It pays to know the rules... A certain Tiger Woods failed to take advantage of the rules during his second round at TPC Sawgrass, as a quadruple-bogey seven at the iconic par-3 17th island green all but ended his hopes of a third Players title. After sinking his tee-shot short in the drink, Woods headed to the drop zone and repeated the feat once again. However, considering the left-back pin placement and the position in which Woods' first ball entered the water, it turned out he could have dropped on the walk-way to the green (essentially, the fringe) and been lining up a 30-foot putt for par rather than facing another tricky wedge shot over the drink. This is where knowing your rules can really make all the difference, so make sure you're clued up by taking a copy of the new Rules of Golf book from the club. |
