Hi everyone,
Member News
It is never a great day when one of our members passes. Some are, to be fair, less surprising than others but Ted Gladdish's passing this week can only be described as a complete shock to everyone. A past Captain, ex-committee member and a regular in Sunday competitions, Ted was a huge figure in the club for many years.
I was personally lucky enough to play with him and Andy Lawrie, the Captain that year, in the Pilgrim's Hospice Medal in 2011 when Ted played, what turns out now to be, literally the round of his life in winning the Trophy that bore the name of his friend Robin Young who had died the previous year. How on earth he shot 77 in the worst rain I have ever played in was, and still is, beyond me. I was soaked through and could hardly hold the club while Ted could do no wrong. It really did seem as if his old friend was helping him along and I have no doubt, if such as thing is possible, that Robin is now giving him grief for the few mistakes he made that day! He will be missed greatly by all at the club and I am sure you will all join me in sending condolences to all those close to him.
The Ryder Cup
Of course life goes on and I'm pretty sure that Ted must be pretty miffed about missing the Ryder Cup this week (I'm not sure he now gets Sky but maybe he doesn't now need it!). The excitement is growing and I personally can't wait for things to start on Friday.
Tom Watson has been ramping things up by aiming at Rory McIlory - a good tactic or a mistake that might fire up Europe even more? We'll see this weekend. What are your predictions ahead of this weekend? Who do you think will be the main men on both teams? Click here to let me know.
Pro's News
My form has been pretty good recently but after a poor performance at North Foreland a while ago, I put my mind back to practise and then went to a Pro-Am at Littlestone Golf Club on Saturday. After 14 holes I was five under par but two small mistakes cost me two bogeys at 15 and 17. I then sunk a 20 footer at the last to get back to four under and ended up second, just narrowly edged out by one shot!
A case of what could have been but that's golf for you. It does give me a lift heading into a winter that I intend to practise a lot in with next year in mind. I will be playing in lots of pro-ams next year and would love to have all of you in the teams that I play with. If you are interested in playing in a pro-am please click here and I will make sure you are with me at some stage in the future.

We also have new stock from FootJoy as this is now the time we often need new shoes as the water starts getting in our old ones! Personally, I hope we don't have a wet winter again but we have the clothing to keep you dry if we do!
