Hang on a minute - it's supposed to be Autumn! There I am putting out all the vests and cover-ups in the shop and putting away the shirts and suddenly we're getting 25 degrees again! What a week we've had. Even better we've now had some rain which means the greens will be at proper ramming speed (that's for all those who can remember the film Ben Hur - yes we're all getting older!) for the Autumn (or is that the Indian Summer) Meeting. The trouble with this weather is of course that we also have US Open style rough just off the fairways and greens. That means there is a premium for finding the fairway chaps - reign in those drivers!
Ryder Cup
The Ryder Cup starts next week of course and I'm sure you're all looking forward to it as much as I am. I was lucky enough to be at Celtic Manor and there is no doubt that it is one of the most unique atmospheres in all of sport. Although I won't be stocking it I will be able to supply the Glenmuir clothing range that the players are wearing. If you are interested in any items then please bear in mind we can order them in for you. The pro shop are of the opinion that this year's contest is going to be much closer than most think. We are clearly hot favourites but let me give you a stat to think on - the last time they won in 2008 was also the last time that Tiger Woods was not in the US team, and he isn't this year either! Club News
Back at home I'd like to congratulate Darren Holman who recently joined us from Canterbury. Darren teamed up with Brian 'The Machine' Hatton to win the 4BBB last Sunday with 44 points. That's great going for someone who has brought his eight handicap to a new golf course. Equally we had only two people, Stephen Boyle and John Jones sharing the pot for 2's on Sunday. That's £39.50 for making a 2!! Get those putters working and get your £1's in the pot!
