Hi Everyone,
Having just witnessed one of the greatest last days in Masters history it made me think of other amazing days in golf and how on earth they come to be.
Last year we were lucky enough to witness Henrik Stenson and Phil Mickelson produce incredible shot after incredible shot in the Open. Quite a few years ago Tiger and Bob May produced ridiculous golf in the USPGA championship with both of them shooting back nine 31's. Back in 1988 we saw the late great Seve take on Nick Price in a head to head duel at Lytham in the Open. The list could go on and on.
The common thread is that they all played in the same group as each other. Had Rose or Garcia fallen away yesterday, in order to be challenged by Spieth or Fowler, then the tension and result would not have been quite the same. But these 'match play' situations that crop up from time to time produce the most incredible golf and yesterday was yet another example. Suddenly the players produce shots that we are all stunned by and they keep doing it. Garcia's 8 iron to 15 where he glanced the flag will be repeated and remembered for decades to come as will Rose's reply on 16, getting in for his birdie first to put pressure on Garcia. Amazing stuff! We should all cherish these days where we get to see true sporting theatre at its best.
I firmly believe we are yet to see the best this year with so many players aiming at majors. Whilst it was a surprise to see Spieth and Fowler drop back on the last day the fact is they were there, in contention, and they will be again. Of course it was also desperately disappointing that Dustin Johnson hurt himself and had to withdraw but I have no doubt he will be back very soon and he will surely be even more determined to win another major. There were also great displays from Thomas Pieters (surely a major winner of the future) and also Paul Casey, whilst Rory threatened but eventually fell short. I really don't think he's far away though so watch what happens this summer.
I, of course, was delighted that my premonition regarding Garcia came to pass, albeit earlier than I thought. This was also tempered a little by Rose being denied a second major but the romantic in me couldn't help but cheer on Serge. Never underestimate the love of a good woman they say - and I firmly believe you can put this one down to Garcia's new found happiness. Contrary to what we often see, I thought she displayed a certain amount of class at the end in not running onto the green immediately. She allowed Sergio his moment even after clearly being very emotional when his final putt dropped. A nice touch - well done Sergio on all counts!
Back home that meant we had two clear winners of my Masters Sweep. Andy Wilks wins the Callaway 3 wood and Natasha Allen the Odyssey putter. Better luck next time everyone else but I'm sure you all enjoyed a wonderful tournament anyway.
I have new stock in the shop and there are offers on all of them. I now have two types of crested shirt from Greg Norman and also a new half-zip cotton sweater. In addition I have some amazing trousers from Island Green that are dri-fit, tapered and have split hems. These are just £35 a pair, but if you take any two of the new garments then you will get £10 knocked off the total. Come in and see what's available now.
In addition I still have a big shoe sale on last year's shoes, including summer styles, as well as the new offerings from FootJoy and Skechers. I am also still doing lots of re-gripping so if you haven't done yours yet come in and see what I have on offer. There are big discounts for volume and you can still get a FREE grip on your 7 iron.
I still have quite a few people taking up my £99 lessons package. The new one includes a playing lesson plus two half hour sessions in the studio but you can still have the five lessons if you prefer. It's now very busy though so see me soon to secure a time if you want to take advantage of these offers.

It’s time to consider something different The majority of golfers are switching to Lithium batteries to power their electric trolley because, with a 5-year limited warranty, it provides a reliable and more cost-effective option than a Lead-Acid alternative. Now is the ideal time to swap as we’re offering £25 OFF a Lithium battery when you trade-in your old one. | Click here to find out why it pays to go Lithium |
