Greetings golfers,
So, the Masters is upon us and I seriously can't wait for it to start. As usual the TV coverage, which used to be very poor compared to Sky's almost round the clock availability, will include practise on the range as well as the par 3 contest on Wednesday night. In addition they now also give us the drive, pitch and putt contest for juniors earlier in the week. Hands up who isn't a little bit jealous of these youngsters who get to putt on the hallowed 18th at Augusta?
One very slight negative of the juniors' contest, and it is only slight, is just how much some of them clearly try to copy what they've seen on TV. Having just watched a number of contestants before them trying the same putt they still see the need to walk the length of it to look from behind the hole. You could call it cute but I bet that carries on into their golf forever. I personally have never seen anything from behind the hole that I hadn't already seen with my first look from behind the ball. The only good thing about walking the putt is that sometimes it slows you down a little, which can be a good thing. It can also, of course, start to infuriate everyone else if you take ages! Interesting then that the R&A want to introduce rules and guidelines to speed up play. Good luck to all of them though - let's face it I'm just jealous!
So, who's going to win? Almost impossible to say but I still believe the pressure of being favourite, and a clear one at that, may be too much for DJ. I love the fact that no one is talking about Rory, despite the fact that he's been playing really well. He's my man but there are a few really good each way bets out there as well: Brooks Koepka, who hits it miles and who has been improving steadily is 50-1, as is Louis Oosthuizen who always plays well at Augusta and who has been in good form. But my big each way bet is Ross Fisher who is playing as good as he ever has and is 100-1. Now that's value!
My sweep is now complete, please click here to see who you've drawn. Good luck to you all and I hope you enjoy it whatever the outcome.
Lastly, I have had new crested shirts and tops in this week along with new trousers at an incredible price. They are Dri-Fit with a modern cut and split hems so they sit perfectly over your shoes and they will be just £30 a pair. I am also offering a discount on the new shirts if you buy two or more so come in soon.
With that though I'm off to watch the golf. Have a great weekend all of you.
