Hi everyone,
Well you'd think it was still February wouldn't you? Don't get me wrong I can remember it snowing in April before but it does feel incredibly cold for the time of year. As much as that doesn't help grass to grow the greens are recovering from the recent maintenance so it won't be long before they are smooth and rapid again.
Last Sunday saw the PGA qualifier and I have to be honest I didn't expect the level of scoring with the greens the way they are. Moreover, a cold Northerly wind certainly isn't the easiest either so I was even more impressed. The winner was Gary Kelk who shot a very impressive 41 points, and a gross 73 I believe - well done Gary. He will join me at Walton Heath in June to try to win our area qualifier, which would get us to the final in Turkey later this year. I will, of course, report on how we do. Other notable scores were from Ian and Neil Hatton who, despite recent handicap reductions, managed to go under par again to reduce them even further. As many of you will know a reduction can knock you sometimes so that makes both their scores even more impressive.
Well done to all of you who beat me on Sunday. I shot 76 for 30 points but as I was 7 over par after 9 holes I actually ended up very pleased. Sometimes you just have to keep fighting and find a positive in a round. I feel I did that so I'm looking forward to the next one.
We have continued to be busy in the shop and I am pleased that this week we did two more club fittings using the new Skytrak system. This can be used to give detailed comparison between your clubs and what you might get out of new technology and so far it has proved invaluable for players who wanted exactly that.
The surprise has been the new Benross Type R iron that outperforms it's far more expensive rivals on the majority of occasions. Not bad for a club that I will do from £340 for 5-SW (other options may alter this price).
If you are thinking of changing clubs or if you just want to know your speeds and club distances via a gapping session, then come in and book. You have the perfect system on site now so why not use it?

It seems that trolleys are on everyone's mind at the moment as we have sold three powered trollies in the last week and have orders for two more that we will supply next. The new Powakaddy Touch seems to be causing interest because it will help on our hills - at the moment your trolley will make you lean back going down hills as you have to control it unless you have an older version with a brake. The new Touch matches your speed without you having to lean back, effectively braking itself down the hill. Come in and see it and we'll give you a demonstration. Equally the new range from Motocaddy is as impressive as ever and with the prices on all lithium trollies being reduced this year this is the time to upgrade!
All our powers trollies from Motocaddy and Powakaddy are available with a trade-in at the moment, if you buy a lithium version, as are new lithium batteries themselves. Come in and secure yours at a discount while this offer lasts.
The new Srixon Ulti-Soft ball offer has caused a rush on this ball and we actually sold out over the weekend. This ball is fantastic for the slower swing speed and with a 5 for 3 offer you can't go wrong if you want to try it. The two-ball freebie packs won't last long though so come in now.
Also whilst your in picking up your Srixon ball deal, take a look at our new Nike clothing display. For a preview click here. |
