Hi all,
Well I have to say you've all impressed me this week - some of the scoring has been incredible! Last weekend saw some top scoring and it is, perhaps, no coincidence that the Club Championship is just round the corner as the low handicappers are starting to get their games in order.
The PGA Medal on Sunday saw not one, not two but three scores of nett 65! That is seriously good going so well done to Darren Bovis, Dave Relph and John Lane. The scratch competition saw Alex Young and Nick Gladstone both shooting gross 71s and the Midweek Stableford was won by Phil Hughes who shot a gross 69. That's great scoring by all of these players, who I'm sure will be right up there in the Club Championship.
My personal opinion is that the good scoring can be put, in some part, down to the condition of the course, which is improving now on a daily basis. I'm writing this as the irrigation system is in full swing on the course. This has been out of action for a while but having now been fixed we should see the course moving forward at even more pace.
You will have noticed that the Greens' Committee have decided to cut the green surrounds down far wider so as the summer months move on and this continues you will hopefully see these improve the lies just off the green dramatically. They are intending to trim them further, which over time will make them a lot smoother and far more even. That will, of course, mean the run-offs from some of the greens will be more severe so controlling your ball will be even more important!
I hope you'll all agree it's great to see the course moving forward though.
Our Cleveland wedge offer seems to have been very popular and it continues in the shop with more stock having arrived. This is a buy one get one half price offer which means you can have two tour standard wedges for £67.50 each! If yours are looking a little beaten up and abused this would be the time to update them - you may not see another wedge offer like this again! Learn more about this campaign here.
We are still selling lithium batteries even though the trade-in offer has finished and I am offering my members discount on the RRPs. We have both Motocaddy S-Series and the universal variety in stock. So no matter what trolley you have we have a lithium for you in the shop. Come in and see me if you need to update. To learn more about lithium batteries - please visit my website here.
We are also now an Odyssey stockist and the putters we took originally are already needing a top-up. I have used one for several years now (Versa #7) so I really can recommend them. We have more coming but we have a very good cross section in stock. You are welcome to come in and try them. Learn more about them here.
