Hi everyone,
Masters week really does sound the bell for the start of the season and with it has come some nicer weather at last! Not very warm to be fair but at least it feels different and I have no doubt the course will be growing a lot quicker as a result.
Whilst on the subject of the Masters, we have drawn our Masters Sweepstake and if you click here you can see what player you are paired with.
My tip has been Jimmy Walker for some time. I got him at very good odds two months ago so I'm hoping he comes good. However, there really are about ten players who I think are there actually believing they are going to win so I think it is going to be one of the best Masters of recent times.
Competitions at Chestfield are as strong as ever and we had a great turnout for the new Captain v Vice Captain match on Sunday. The Drive-In on Saturday saw the usual crowd of 200 plus seeing the new Captains in. I thought they all handled the pressure very well (do you fancy being watched by 200 people?) but in particular the new Mitrebeen's Captain Bernard Connellan seemed to rise to the pressure drilling the ball out with a hint of draw on most of his drives (bandit!). Well done to all four though and I hope they have great years. Unfortunately the new Captain, Richard Punyer, got on the end of a beating twice on Sunday but I have no doubt he will be turning that around very quickly.
On the subject of competitions there are a number of men's friendly matches this year and the organiser Paul Russell needs more players. Below you will see the list of events and Paul's contact details so please get in touch with him if you would like to play.

Many of you will have seen the four for three offer that Titleist have been doing and the good news is it has been extended for a week! You now have until Sunday, 19 April to order your personalised balls.
As it happens there is also an offer from Srixon on the same lines so if you'd like to stock up and grab a bargain at the start of the season get into the shop now.
There is also a trade-in offer from Motocaddy on lithium batteries - if you have an old battery you can get a £25 discount off a lithium battery, which we have already sold a number of this year. They really are the most economical in the long run and by far the easiest to live with, far more so than the heavy lead acid type. So, now is a good time to be looking at your ball stocks, batteries and also your shoes as FootJoy's promotion continues as well!
My tips for the course will continue next week as, frankly, I can't take my eyes off the Masters so have a great week everyone and good luck to those in the sweep! See you on the course soon.
